The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Augusta University seeks applicants for an Adult General Anesthesiologist. This position will provide direct patient care management in an academic, hospital-based, and transdisciplinary anesthesiology program. Opportunities include managing a patient-centric, team-based care delivery model, expanding the role of the anesthesiologist to satisfy the triple aim of value, patient satisfaction, and reduced cost through enhancing relationships with primary, surgical, and ancillary service divisions. As faculty, you will meet growing demand for patient optimization and risk stratification, participating in innovative programs in education for residents and translational and clinical research activities, including integration with campus-supported discovery initiatives.   One can expect to be a part of the Anesthesia Care Team where our Faculty supervise resident physicians in training and/or directing qualified non-physician anesthesia providers in the provision of anesthesia care wherein the physician may delegate monitoring and appropriate tasks while retaining overall responsibility for the patient.  The expected case mix includes:  Adult General Cases, Spinal, Epidural, OBGYN, Urology, Neurology, Orthopedic, Plastics, ENT, Oral Surgery, Eyes, and Thoracic & Vascular except on open hearts.

Qualifications:

• MD, MD/PhD, certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology or board eligible
• Licensed, or eligible for valid Georgia medical license
• Experience in team leadership, care coordination, and advanced communication skills
• Demonstrated excellence in patient care, education and research, ideally with record of sustained extramural funding and peer-reviewed publications
