Hospice/Palliative Care Physician needed to care for our Veterans-Great Benefits!
The Togus VA Medical Center located in Augusta, Maine is searching for a BC/BE Hospice/Palliative Care Physician to join their dynamic healthcare team as the Hospice and Palliative Care (H&PC) Medical Director.
Togus Springs is a state of the art 12-bed hospice unit which is part of the Community Living Center located at the VA Maine Healthcare Systems main campus. In this inpatient setting, compassionate, quality care is proved to Veterans in an inpatient setting at the end of life. The Director functions as a key member of the GEC team actively participating in the development of overall management objectives.
The Hospice and Palliative Care (H&PC) Medical Director is the clinical leader for the H&PC program at Togus VA which includes an integrated inpatient and outpatient program. The Medical Director works closely with the Palliative Care Team consisting of Nurse Practitioner, Hospice Unit Nurse Manager, RN Coordinator, Social Worker and Chaplain to provide:
- Care of patients in the 12-bed hospice and palliative care unit
- Inpatient consultative services in the acute hospital and long term care areas
- Outpatient consultative services in the geriatric and specialty care clinics
- Telemedicine consultative services for patients unable to travel to Augusta
- Management of patients in hospice home care
- Supervision and training of H&PC fellows in collaboration with Maine Medical Center
Serves as professional liaison of the facility to other VA and federal facilities, the community, affiliates, media, congressional offices and constituent organizations. Maintains and promotes high ethical and clinical standards that are carried into decision-making processes.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, Full time, hours negotiable upon selection
Call Coverage: Rotates every 5 weeks, after hours and weekends from home
Salary Range: $200,000 to $225,000 per year
A recruitment incentive may be authorized for a highly qualified candidate
Selected candidate may be eligible to apply for student loan repayment thru the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Participation is based on funds availability.
