Wayne State University School of Medicine Department of PM&R is seeking additions to our diverse academic faculty: Brain Injury Medicine Subspecialist, Spinal Cord Injury Subspecialist, Stroke and General Rehabilitation physiatrists.
Mirroring the resurgence of a revitalized, diverse and dynamic Detroit, The Department of PM&R is building on its long tradition of excellence in academic physiatry and expanding its presence in the greater Detroit Metropolitan area. We are currently active in two major healthcare systems and anticipate additional clinical partnerships that share our vision for transformative post-acute care and the advancement of rehabilitation sciences. There are multiple opportunities to participate in the excitement of our redesigned curriculum in the Medical School for those whose academic interests focus on education. Wayne State University - Detroit's public, urban research university - is home to the new Integrative Biosciences Center (IBio), a $90 million facility dedicated to studying and eliminating the many health disparities that plague the city's residents. In the Department itself, we offer an excellent infrastructure for advancing the research interests of our faculty. We have a close relationship with the School of Pharmacy and Allied Health, as well as Biomedical Engineering, and the clinical departments of Emergency Medicine and Neurology. Career pathways in Graduate Medical Education with the potential to assume the role of Program Director for our residency is also available. Our historic partnership with the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan offers cutting edge clinical technologies as well as experienced therapists, psychologists and nurses in key sub-specialty areas. Medical Leadership in clinical programs will also be supported.
Our recruitment emphasis is on early to mid-career physicians with academic ambitions and who value teaching and scholarship to achieve professional gratification. We believe we have the opportunities such individuals want and deserve.
