Job Summary:

The Disneyland Resort is seeking a board-certified occupational health physician to provide clinical care and oversight of the internal Health Services Clinic at the Disneyland Resort, encompassing approximately 30,000 cast members at Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure and our three resorts. This position reports to the Chief Medical Officer of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts and will lead a team of physicians and nurse practitioner(s), as well as collaborate with and provide guidance to a team of occupational health nurses, radiographic technologists, and medical assistants.

Responsibilities:

This position is approximately 80% clinical and 20% administrative, providing expertise to key partners on critical safety and health issues:

Clinical Expert

  • Medical care for occupational injuries/illnesses at the onsite occupational health clinic
  • Direct supervision of nurse practitioner(s) on site
  • Oversee nursing performance, providing guidance on clinical protocols
  • Partner with the nurse leadership to ensure efficient clinic workflow and clinic operation related to evaluation and delivery of medically related care. Assist with process improvement of clinic operations and services and measurement and reporting of clinical outcomes to management as appropriate
  • Provide medical consultation and expertise for clinic staff on occupational health matters, including medical surveillance for DOT, OSHA-required examinations, work-related injury/illness management, and fitness for duty evaluations, urgent care cases and emergencies
  • Provide consultation and on-site biometric and wellness services

Strategic Partner

  • Assist CMO and other clinical peers in the development of policies and procedures for occupational health services
  • Work with Human Resources (HR) on best practices for medical accommodations, return to work and leave management
  • Work with the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and HR on fitness for duty evaluations
  • Work with safety partners on developing strategies to ensure safety in the work environment
  • Work collaboratively with Workers’ Compensation on case management and process improvement
  • Provide subject matter expertise for medically related elements of regulatory and legal compliance issues, such as medical surveillance, ADA, FMLA and workplace safety
  • Work as an integral member of the Threat Assessment Team
  • Consult and work with other departments within the Resort regarding health issues that arise including the review for Guest Claims of medical diagnoses and treatment of injuries or illnesses of guests which are alleged to have occurred while at the Resort
  • Work with local public health agencies and safety, as needed when reportable infectious disease health issues affect either our Cast Members or our Guests
  • Assist in evaluation and use of the Electronic Medical Record software

Basic Qualifications:

  • Medical license (MD or DO) in good standing
  • California medical license
  • Board Certification in Occupational Medicine
  • Minimum of 5-10 years clinical experience in occupational medicine
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in OSHA regulatory programs and recordkeeping, ADA, FMLA and workers’ compensation
  • Proven ability to provide education and guidance on complex medical issues to Employee Relations, HR and front-line managers
  • Experience leading clinical teams
  • Demonstrated ability to create excellent physician/nurse/administrative relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with compassionate delivery of medical care and guidance
  • Ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team-based environment
  • Ability to identify best practices in occupational health and lead process improvement efforts locally
  • Demonstrated past experience working with diverse workforces and customers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine
  • Commercial driver medical examiner certified through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)

Required Education

  • Medical license (MD or DO) in good standing
  • California medical license

Preferred Education

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, MBA or equivalent
