Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) and Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center (SARMC) have an excellent full time employment opportunity for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Pathology physician to join an established practice located in Boise, Idaho.
SAMG is a physician led 450+ provider multispecialty group with a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care. This collaborative and congenial group seeks an experienced Anatomic and Clinical pathologist to join the practice as a fourth partner. Partners share in covering general pathology in conjunction with their respective individual specialties. A Gastrointestinal Pathologist or Dermatopathologist would be ideal compliments to the Hematopathologist and two Cytopathologists currently in the practice. The partners work well together, being available and providing back up when needed. One example is participation in weekly, multi-disciplinary Breast Conference and Tumor Board on a rotating basis.
The pathology group provides services to all service lines within the hospital as well as a laboratory outreach program. Support for the Pathology practice includes access to a superb, high quality histology lab where it is easy to get additional immunostains.
The pathologists oversee both Anatomical Pathology and Clinical Pathology with the clinical laboratory resulting in over 1.5 million tests annually. Approximate annual case volume for the practice is:
- Surgical Pathology – 13,000
- Pap smear – 10,000
- Non GYN Cytology's – 1,200
- Hematology (including bone marrow interpretations) – 600
The schedule for this opportunity includes a traditional Monday through Friday work week plus call and hospital duties which includes procedures, rounding and consult. Call for this opportunity is 1:4, shared equitably including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Requirements for this opportunity include a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree; successful completion of an accredited ACGME/AOA Pathology residency program, followed by the successful completion of a Fellowship program in GI Pathology or Dermatopathology with other subspecialties considered if experience or training is exceptional. The candidate must possess Board Certification through the American Board of Pathology in AP/CP and be eligible to obtain Idaho medical licensure, a valid controlled substance registration with Board of Pharmacy and a DEA. The successful candidate must also be eligible for the granting of privileges at SARMC and other health system affiliated hospitals as needed.
