Washington DC VA Medical Center seeks 2 Full-Time, Board Certified/Board Eligible Radiologist. 

Qualifications, duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Must be a Citizen of the United States possessing a current, full and unrestricted license in any of the fifty state.
  • The radiologist will provide services in outpatient/Inpatient care setting.
  • Ability to interpret general and cross-sectional radiology examinations (plain film, CT, CTA, US, MRI)
  • Expertise in cardiac CT and CTA is desirable but not a must.
  • Perform ultrasound examinations of all the organs including thyroid, and vascular exams such as duplex doppler US.
  • Perform fluoroscopic examinations such as GI studies.
  • Interpret CT and MRI examinations of the head, neck, body, spine, and extremities.
  • Ability to perform minor interventional procedures under ultrasound and fluoro guidance such as lumbar puncture, myelograms, joint aspirations, abscess drainage, paracentesis, thoracentesis etc. is not a must, but is desirable.
  • Be familiar with voice dictation system to ensure timely and consistent imaging reporting.
  • Provide accurate, concise, timely documentation of care in the electronic medical record on each patient’s care occurrence.
  • Ensure communication for direct patient care is accomplished among imaging staff and providers. Treat patients with respect and dignity.
  • Responsibility includes providing 80 hours of care every two weeks’ pay period, and take calls as determined by the need of the department.
  • Selected candidate will be required to undergo background checks, medical fitness and credentialing
  • Maintain cordial relations with colleagues and referring physicians
  • Follow HIPPA regulations to preserve patient privacy.

Federal Retirement Plan:

VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS basic benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan.  The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution.  For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension.

Employees are vested in a federal pension after only 5 years of service
