- Position Type
Greenville Women’s Care (GWC) is part of a 100 provider multi-specialty group known as Physicians East. Our office is located just across the street from Vidant Medical Center, a 900+ bed tertiary, academic medical center and home of East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine. The presence of a 50-bed Level IV neonatal intensive care unit provides support to do high risk obstetrics, in addition to routine obstetrics. We have 23 beds on our Labor and Delivery Unit, including seven labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum rooms. There are three operating rooms within our L&D unit, which accommodate operative vaginal delivery, cesarean sections, tubal ligations, and cerclages. The main operating room houses 26 operating rooms and we have dedicated OR time as a practice. Day surgery can also be performed in a nearby surgery center or within the office, using mobile anesthesia. We have a cordial and supportive relationship with the full-time medical faculty, which includes sub-specialists in Maternal Fetal Medicine and Gynecologic Oncology. We have found that the easy availability of consultations with sub-specialists has enhanced the quality of our practice. Call is shared equally with five other physicians. For those interested in teaching residents, a clinical position is available with the Brody School of Medicine.
Greenville is a rapidly growing college town with a population of about 95,000, a rejuvenated Uptown filled with restaurants and shops. Located in eastern North Carolina, the economy and culture of Greenville are dominated by the presence of East Carolina University and Vidant Health. ECU is a 29,000-student campus within the University of North Carolina system. The college provides access to college sports with an active and engaged fan base. The music and performing arts departments are popular, and every year there are numerous high quality musical and theatrical productions involving both ECU faculty and distinguished visiting performers. Greenville boasts outdoor activities such as a recreation trail within the city limits along the Tar River, for biking, running, and walking. At Town Common, there is a recently renovated children's park with a summer concert series.
Perhaps most convenient is its location and excellent cost of living. It is approximately 80 miles east of Raleigh and 80 miles west of Atlantic Beach. Many members of the Greenville medical community have vacation homes or condominiums at the beach. In addition, the large rivers and estuaries of eastern North Carolina are nearby and are ideal for all types of boating and water sports.
In summary, we are offering a partnership practice opportunity in a very desirable location and in a medical environment which allows us to combine the intellectual stimulation of academic medicine with the independence and financial rewards of private practice.
