Director of Critical Care Division in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia/Augusta University

The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University seeks applicants for the Director of the Critical Care Division. This position will direct an academic, hospital-based, and transdisciplinary 24-bed surgical intensive care service. Opportunities include leading a patient-centric, Leapfrog-directed team-based care delivery model toward top decile performance for quality outcomes, patient/ family satisfaction, and Lean-based process efficiencies. This position will meet the growing demand for innovative programs in education and research, including integration with campus-supported discovery initiatives. The goal of this position is to develop the Anesthesia-based critical care division and its ACGME-accredited Critical Care fellowship at MCG/AU to a nationally recognized program in patient care, education and discovery.

Qualifications:

  • MD, MD/PhD, certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology with specialty certification in Critical Care Medicine.
  • Licensed, or eligible for valid Georgia medical license
  • Experience in managerial leadership, business administration, and advanced communication skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in patient care, education and research, ideally with record of sustained extramural funding and peer-reviewed publications

Hospital Facts: The AU Health System includes a 478-bed adult and 154-bed children’s hospital, which manages over 20,000 admissions, 380,897 outpatient visits, and 87, 676 emergency room visits annually. The hospitals are the region’s Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma centers with services lines that include digestive health, neuroscience, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and children’s care.
