The University of Chicago's Department of Anesthesia & Critical Care in the Biological Sciences Division is searching for a Research Assistant Professor, whose primary activity will be academic research in association with a faculty member or team. The successful applicant will best contribute to a research project on exploring the mechanisms underlying pain, anesthetic drug action, addiction, and cognition. We welcome applications from basic scientists as well as clinician scientists (although patient care will not be allowed). With this recruitment, we will build upon our department's strong history of important contributions to basic, translational, and clinical research. Our goal is to become one of the leading academic anesthesiology departments in the nation. We pride ourselves on career development and provide resources and mentoring support to ensure the success of our members. Collaborative and core facility support are available through the Grossman Institute for Neuroscience, Quantitative Biology and Human Behavior. Support for translational projects is available from the NIH Clinical and Translational Sciences Award-funded Institute of Translational Medicine.
