Northwell Health is seeking a fulltime academic Trauma Medical Director/Acute Care Surgeon BE/BC in Surgical Critical Care/Trauma Surgery to join the faculty at our Southside Hospital campus (in Bayshore, NY). This is an excellent opportunity to work as a Clinician Educator in a high acuity environment with a very supportive and experienced team.

The qualified candidate will join a team of five other attendings in Southside Hospital Division of Acute Care Surgery.  Surgeons will rotate through the Surgical ICU and Acute Care Surgery services. Southside Hospital is a Level II Trauma Center, and admits approximately 800 trauma and surgical patients annually.  The Division also manages a 10-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Lastly, the Division is actively involved in research at the basic science, translational, and clinical level.

Southside Hospital is a 341-bed hospital with physicians, nurses and staff who provide health care services in all medical specialties. Our centers of excellence include Cardiology, Orthopedics, Neuroscience and Women’s Health.

Northwell Health is New York State’s largest health care provider and private employer, with 23 hospitals, more than 600 outpatient facilities and nearly 15,000 affiliated physicians. We care for over two million people annually in the New York metro area and beyond, thanks to philanthropic support from our communities. Our 66,000 employees – 15,000-plus nurses and 4,000 employed doctors, including members of Northwell Health Physician Partners – are working to change health care for the better. We’re making breakthroughs in medicine at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. We're training the next generation of medical professionals at the visionary Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and the Hofstra Northwell School of Graduate Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies.

The right candidate will have a strong commitment to medical student and resident education.  Interest in translational and/or clinical research is also desirable.  We are an equal opportunity employer; rank at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell will be commensurate with qualifications.
