The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center Chief of Staff serves as a member of the senior executive (quadrad) leadership team and provides administrative, clinical and programmatic leadership, ensuring the delivery of high quality clinical care, professional education and medical research at the Medical Center.

In addition to making clinical decisions, the Chief of Staff participates in organizational planning to achieve the mission and vision of the Medical Center; participates in the development of long and short-range goals; ensures an environment that promotes quality patient care, educational activities and administrative planning and evaluation; monitors and promotes compliance with VA regulations and professional standards and ethical conduct; and develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services to patients.

The Chief of Staff serves as advisor to the Medical Center Director on issues related to provision of direct patient care and promotes the development of health care professionals through counseling, mentoring, teaching and encouraging self-assessment. The Chief of Staff ensures that medical staff practitioners are credentialed and privileged in accordance with VA and Joint Commission requirements and monitors staff compliance with agency regulations, medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations. The Chief of Staff has supervisory line authority for all clinical services and is responsible for recruitment and retention and effective management and operation of clinical staff.

Recruitment is open to physicians in any specialty/program area: Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, etc.

Work Hours: 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday

Salary Range: Up to $270,000 per year
