Maine Medical Center is seeking a Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology/Chief of the Women’s Health Service Line in Portland. Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Medical Affairs/Chief Medical Officer, the Chair/Chief functions as the principal academic, clinical and administrative leader for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This position is fully accountable for the development and maintenance of efficient, effective academic and clinical operations, as well as the development and promotion of collaborative work relationships among clinicians and administrators at all levels within the department. In collaboration with leadership peers, and through alignment and motivation of stakeholders, the Chair/Chief contributes to the vision that drives the strategic plan of Maine Medical Center (MMC) and MaineHealth, and influences and implements visionary institutional policy, cutting edge clinical ventures, exceptional training programs and innovative research initiatives.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Maine Medical Center provides full scope obstetric and gynecologic services, including inpatient and outpatient obstetrics, inpatient and outpatient gynecologic care and gynecologic surgery. Sub-specialty care is also provided in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, and Reproductive Endocrinology.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of progressive clinical leadership experience in a similarly complex organization.
  • Board certification by a Board approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the AOA.
  • Academic and/or research credentials consistent with other division heads or Chiefs.
  • Knowledge of healthcare finance, hospital administration and strategic planning and improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated high level leadership skills with proven ability to cultivate collaboration and build consensus across diverse clinical and administrative stakeholders, and across organizational boundaries.
