Generalist OB GYN Faculty Opportunity

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at State University of New York – Upstate Medical University is recruiting for a full or part time board certified or board eligible OB GYN to join its Generalist Division.

The Generalist Division at SUNY Upstate Medical University has an opportunity for either a full or part time academic faculty position (Assistant or Associate Professor rank). The candidate should be certified or a candidate for certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology or equivalent.

Expectations of this position include active involvement in the education of medical students and residents as well as coverage of the inpatient and outpatient obstetrical and gynecologic services. As we are the referral center for 16 counties in Central New York extending to the Canadian border, we offer numerous opportunities in challenging patient care, research, and QI initiatives. Abortion services are provided on the University campus in both the ambulatory and hospital settings.  The Division is actively involved in the education of 20 residents and the 165 Upstate Medical University medical students annually. 

The ideal candidate will be an excellent clinician and have interests in both clinical and academic missions.  Academic appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level and salary are commensurate with qualifications and are competitive both nationally and regionally.  Excellent benefits are offered that include health, dental, and vision insurance, a tax saving benefit plan to support your healthcare costs, and generous time off.  The Department does offer relocation assistance, professional development opportunities with a stipend, and one week of continuing medical education time that is in addition to your accrued time off per year.

The Department represents the following Divisions:

  • Breast Health and Breastfeeding Medicine

  • Family Planning

  • General Obstetrics and Gynecology

  • Gynecologic Oncology

  • Maternal Fetal Medicine

  • Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility

  • Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery
     

The Department is continuing to expand and in addition to the nine Generalists, there are three MFM physicians, three Gyn-Oncologists, Reproductive Endocrinologist, Breast Health/Lactation specialist, four Certified Nurse Midwives, seven Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistant, and an Andrologist.  The Department also includes PhD Epidemiologists, Bio-Statisticians, and Data Managers for research projects.

The SUNY Upstate Medical University is in the city of Syracuse, in central New York State. Syracuse has a metropolitan area population of approximately 750,000.
