The Opportunity:

Ob Hospitalist Group has partnered with this facility to develop and manage a program that provides 24/7 emergent care to expectant mothers.

As an OBHG hospitalist, you are the in-house expert whose advanced clinical skill and ability to handle any OB emergency dramatically improves patient safety and satisfaction.

You will work closely with local OB/GYNs to ensure that every pregnant woman who presents to the hospital is cared for by an experienced physician, every time.

Hospital Information:

Serving east Texas for 75 years, the hospital is a 404-bed acute care facility located in the heart of Tyler, TX. They offer a complete range of services including trauma care and emergency medical services, routine and specialized medical and surgical care, Tyler s ONLY neonatal intensive care unit, maternal and child care, advanced neurological, orthopedic, cardiac care and more. It is one of the highest rated integrated health systems in the United States, being named a Top 100 Hospitalby Truven Health Analytics in 2014. This award-winning hospital has approximately 2,568 annual births.

The Location:

Tyler, TX is the principal city of the Tyler Metropolitan Statistical Area, with a population of roughly 210,000, and the regional center of the Tyler-Jacksonville combined statistical area, with a population of 260,559 in 2010. It is located in northeast Texas, about 100 miles southeast of Dallas. As a regional educational and technology center, Tyler is the host for more than 20,000 higher education students, a College of Engineering, and a University Health Science Center, two regional, billion-dollar hospital systems, and a variety of technology startups. It has the nickname "Rose Capital of the World" due to the large quantity of rose bushes processed through the area, along with hosting America's largest rose garden.

Arts and Entertainment:

Annually, the Texas Rose Festival draws thousands of tourists to Tyler. The Rose Museum features the history of the Festival. Tyler is home to Caldwell Zoo, several local museums, Lake Palestine and numerous golf courses and country clubs. A few miles away in Flint, TX is The WaterPark @ The Villages, a year-round, indoor water park. Tyler State Park is a few miles away where visitors can camp, canoe, and paddle boat on the lake. Activities include picnicking, camping, boating, boat rentals, fishing, birding, mountain biking, hiking trails, lake swimming and nature study. Additionally, the city of Tyler is fortunate to offer its citizens more than 1,000 acres of parkland comprised of 27 parks throughout Tyler. Within these 27 parks there are playgrounds, athletic fields, walking trails, an amphitheater, tennis courts, multi-purpose courts and landscapes that help to lend an atmosphere of beauty and tranquility within a very busy urban environment.

Tyler offers a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, grills and other dining venues, from small local eateries to national chain restaurants.

Education:

Public primary and secondary education for much of the city is provided by the Tyler Independent School District, which includes two high schools, John Tyler and Robert E. Lee; Premier High School of Tyler, a public charter school (Cumberland Academy); several Tyler schools offer international baccalaureate and advanced placement programs. Portions of incorporated Tyler are served by surrounding school districts. These include sections of southeast Tyler by the Whitehouse Independent School District, and some sections in the east which are served by the Chapel Hill Independent School District. There are also many private schools from which to choose.

Tyler's higher education institutions include the University of Texas at Tyler and the University of Texas Health Center at Tyler, both part of the University of Texas System, as well as Tyler Junior College and Texas College.

Longview, TX

Hospital Information

This facility performs 1,740 annual deliveries, and houses the first NICU to open in the Northeast Texas region. The Level II NICU cares for babies born as early as 23 weeks gestation and full-term babies with special needs.

The Location

Longview is a friendly city about two hours from Dallas/Fort Worth that is part of the "Real East Texas." Its impressive forests, rolling hills, and year-round mild weather attract travelers each year.

Arts and Entertainment

Festivals are a major attraction in Longview, with a Boat & RV Show each January, and arts activities that include a professional symphony, community band, historical museum, and fine arts museum.

The city is home to the T-Bone Walker Blues Festival the first weekend in June, a Fourth of July Freedom and Fireworks Celebration, and the Great Texas Balloon Race in July. Other special events include the 'Freeze Your Fanny' bike ride, the Longview Kennel Club's annual AKC Dog Show, a Cinco de Mayo festival, and the Zonta Antique Show and Sale.

Longview also boasts several wineries and craft breweries.
