Chair, Department of Anesthesiology

Albany Medical College is seeking a physician leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Service Chief at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Candidates should possess an MD or MD/PhD degree, hold an appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level, and be eligible for licensure in the state of New York.

The Department of Anesthesiology’s educational programs include a fully accredited residency program and  Fellowships in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology and Pain.  In addition, Department faculty are highly involved in the instruction of Albany Medical College students in both the preclinical and clinical clerkship years.

The Department Chair will lead a team of more than 50 voluntary and employed faculty, 24 Residents and two Fellows in meeting the clinical and educational needs for the only Level I Trauma Center for the 25-county Capital Region of upstate New York, and in developing an integrated approach to services across its system of two additional affiliated hospitals in northeastern New York.  Services are provided in both the main hospital, as well as other locations including a free-standing Ambulatory Surgical Center and an office-based vascular setting.
