Hazel Ruby McQuain Endowed Chair for Arthritis and
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine seek a board certified Rheumatologist to serve as Section Chief and endowed Chair of Rheumatology.
This position will provide leadership and oversight of the Rheumatology section. The successful candidate may practice in the areas of inpatient and outpatient Rheumatology. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and translational research.
Appropriate candidates will be qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. This position will be expected to practice in the primary location of Morgantown, WV, and will also be expected to supervise services at satellite clinical sites in the state of West Virginia and additional sites to be determined based on expansion and growth of our services and sites.
Our section of Rheumatology currently can support six physicians and two advanced practice professionals. Rheumatology has also served an outreach site in southern West Virginia in the past. The successful candidate will have a passion for the unique challenges in rural healthcare, such as developing programs to better serve our patients who seek care from a great distance.
Qualifications: applicants must have a MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must be board certified in internal medicine and be board certified in rheumatology at the time of appointment. A minimum of three years of experience as a Rheumatologist is required. Established evidence of academic and/or administrative achievements is a plus. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
