Established in 1866, St. Barnabas Hospital enjoys a rich history of serving a diverse patient population. The hospital’s eight state-of-the-art operating suites provide care for more than 11,000 general, urological, gynecological, vascular, pediatric, and neurosurgical patients. St. Barnabas also has two endoscopy rooms, with case volume of 3,500 procedures a year. Pediatric cases range from routine, such as tubes and tonsils (ENT), to complex traumas. Cardiac surgery is not offered at the hospital. A high-risk obstetrical service manages more than 2,500 live births each year, 60% of them with epidurals. The hospital also has state-designated centers for stroke and AIDS care. St. Barnabas Hospital recently completed some major renovation and construction projects, adding a spacious hospital lobby, full-service ambulatory surgery center, operating suite, inpatient short-term hospice unit, and attractive gateways to the garden-like campus.
