Mount Auburn Hospital, a 220-bed Harvard Medical School affiliated regional teaching hospital serving the greater metropolitan Boston-Cambridge area, is seeking an outstanding leader, clinician and teacher for the position of Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine. Leading a Department of more than 100 professionals including an exceptionally talented faculty of physicians and physician assistants, the Chair directs Mount Auburn’s emergency services in a primary market serving 12 communities including numerous schools and colleges. The Department sees approximately 35,000 visits annually, has 12,000 walk-in visits per year, provides medical direction and continuing education to first responders, and plays a leadership role in regional emergency preparedness drills and simulations. The Hospital is a founding member of the Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) network, a $5.5B, 13 hospital health care system serving eastern Massachusetts that recently received approval from all state and federal regulatory agencies to begin joint operations in March, 2019.

The Department is well known for its deep commitment to medical education and the Chair oversees emergency medicine residents rotating from the Harvard – Beth Israel Deaconess Emergency Medicine Program.
