Ob Hospitalist Group has partnered with this facility to develop and manage a program that provides 24/7 emergent care to expectant mothers.

As an OBHG hospitalist, you are the in-house expert whose advanced clinical skill and ability to handle any OB emergency dramatically improves patient safety and satisfaction.

You will work closely with local OB/GYNs to ensure that every pregnant woman who presents to the hospital is cared for by an experienced physician, every time.

Hospital Information

The 391-bed hospital is a full-service acute care and surgical facility that has served the Central Virginia community since 1966. The hospital is home to a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), private labor-delivery-recovery suites, post-partum suites, obstetrical critical care for high-risk pregnancies, maternal-fetal medicine and ongoing educational programs for new families.

 

The Location

 

Richmond, VA the capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia with a population of 215,000, it is the fourth-most populous city in Virginia. The Richmond Metropolitan Area has a population of 1,260,029. Richmond is ideally located at the fall line of the James River, 44 miles west of Williamsburg, 66 miles east of Charlottesville, and 98 miles south of Washington, D.C. The economy in Richmond is primarily driven by law, finance, and government, with federal, state, and local governmental agencies, as well as notable legal and banking firms, located in the downtown area. The city is home to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, one of 13 United States courts of appeals, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and several Fortune 500 companies.

Arts and Entertainment

Many of the city's large general museums are located near the Boulevard. On Boulevard proper are the Virginia Historical Society and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, lending their name to what is sometimes called the Museum District. The Richmond Region offers a year-round schedule of musical, theatrical, artistic and dance performances. Many professional arts groups, including the Richmond Ballet, Richmond Symphony and Virginia Opera, perform annually in the Region. There is a full schedule of outdoor concerts May through September. 

A number of Richmond's 100 parks are located along the James River, and the James River Parks System offers bike trails, hiking and nature trails, and many scenic overlooks along the river's route through the city. The trails are used as part of the Xterra East Championship course for both the running and mountain biking portions of the off-road triathlons. Several theme parks are also located near the city, including Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens.

Education

Richmond Public Schools operate 28 elementary schools, nine middle schools, and eight high schools, serving a total student population of 24,000 students. The Maggie L. Walker Governor's School for Government and International Studies was named as one of Newsweek magazine's 18 "public elite" high schools and #16 of America's best high schools overall. There are 36 private schools serving grades one or higher in the city of Richmond. Some of these schools include: Benedictine High School, St. Bridget School, Brook Road Academy, Collegiate School, St. Christopher's School, St. Gertrude High School, St. Catherine's School, Southside Baptist Christian School, Northstar Academy, The Steward School, Trinity Episcopal School, and Veritas School.

The Richmond area has many major institutions of higher education, including the Virginia Commonwealth University, the University of Richmond, Virginia Union University, Virginia College, Union Theological Seminary & Presbyterian School of Christian Education and the Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond. Several community colleges are found in the metro area, including J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and John Tyler Community College. Virginia State University is located about 20 miles south of Richmond.
