Hospital Information

The 361-bed regional medical center serves the South Sound community. Its Family Birth Center offers the widest range of prenatal, pregnancy, maternal-fetal medicine, delivery and post-partum services in the region. The hospital is home to a level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and features all private labor and delivery suites, as well as private postpartum rooms.

The Location

Tacoma is located in Pierce County, Washington, and is the second the second most populous metropolitan area in the state as well as the third most populous city, with 198,397 residents.

It is conveniently located just 18 miles from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, 36 miles from Seattle, 142 miles from Portland, Oregon, and 174 miles from Vancouver, B.C.

Pierce County experiences an average rainfall of 39 inches a year, less than New York, Miami, Houston and Boston.

Arts and Entertainment

Sitting on the shores of the Puget Sound, Tacoma is known for its six major museums, theater district, lively downtown, Chihuly Bridge of Glass, glass art, fine dining, shopping and collector vehicles.

Outdoor lovers will enjoy the 700-acre Point Defiance Park as well as convenient access to Mount Rainier, an active volcano and the highest mountain in Washington. Tacoma is also home to the only combined zoo and aquarium in the Northwest.


Tacoma has both public and private elementary and secondary schools, an alternative high school, a science and math Institute and a school of the arts.

Higher education institutions include University of Puget Sound, Tacoma Community College, University of Washington Tacoma, City University of Seattle-Tacoma, The Evergreen State College Tacoma Campus, Bates Technical College and Corban University School of Ministry/Tacoma Campus.
