General Obstetrics and Gynecology - Board Certified Hospitalist
The 86-bed hospital is an acute care and surgical facility that serves the Colorado Springs community. Delivering nearly 2,000 babies each year, the hospital is home to a level II special care nursery, private birthing suites, a maternal-fetal medicine program for high-risk pregnancies and educational classes for new parents.
Colorado Springs, CO lies in a high desert with the Southern Rocky Mountains to the west, the Palmer Divide to the north, high plains further east, and high desert lands to the south. It's located 60 miles south of the State Capitol of Denver. At 6,035 feet, the city stands over one mile above sea level, though some areas of the city are significantly higher and lower. Colorado Springs is situated near the base of one of the most famous American mountains, Pikes Peak, rising over 8,000 feet above the city on the eastern edge of the Southern Rocky Mountains. The United States Air Force Academy is located in Colorado Springs. It is the second most populous city in the state of Colorado, behind Denver, and the 42nd most populous city in the United States. Colorado Springs was selected as the No. 1 Best Big City in Best Places to Live by Money magazine and placed number one in Outside's list of America's Best Cities. The city has abundant sunshine year-round, averaging over 300 sunny days per year. Colorado Springs is home to the United States Olympic Training Center and the headquarters of the United States Olympic Committee.
Arts and Entertainment
Colorado Springs' location at the base of Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains makes it a popular tourism destination. Colorado Springs has more than 55 attractions and activities in the area, including Garden of the Gods, a National Natural Landmark with 300 foot sandstone rock formations against a backdrop of the snow-capped mountains of Pikes Peak. The park offers a variety of annual events, one of the most popular of which is the Starlight Spectacular. Other notable attractions include the United States Air Force Academy, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Old Colorado City and the U.S. Olympic Training Center. The city has a particularly long association with the sport of figure skating, having hosted the U.S. Figure Skating Championships six times and the World Figure Skating Championships five times. It is home to the World Figure Skating Museum and Hall of Fame and the Broadmoor Skating Club, a notable training center for the sport. In recent years, the World Arena has hosted skating events such as Skate America and the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships.
There are 136 neighborhood, 8 community, 7 regional parks and 5 sports complexes totaling 9,000 acres managed by the city's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services. They also manage 500 acres of trails. There are 5,000 acres of open spaces in Colorado Springs. Some major parks include, Palmer Park, America the Beautiful Park, Memorial Park, and Monument Valley Park. The Austin Bluffs Park also affords a place of recreation in eastern Colorado Springs. Three trails, the New Santa Fe Regional Trail, Pikes Peak Greenway and Fountain Creek Regional Trail, form a continuous path from Palmer Lake, through Colorado Springs, to Fountain, Colorado. The Urban Trails system has more than 100 miles of multi-use trails for biking, jogging, roller blading and walking. All trails, except Monument Valley Park trails, may be used for equestrian traffic. Many of the trails are interconnected.
Colorado Springs is served by eight school districts that oversee a wide range of schools. Some of the best public schools in the area include Mountain View Elementary School, Cheyenne Mountain High School, the Vanguard School (High) and Chipeta Elementary School, all with a rating of 10 out of 10.
There are several postsecondary education options in Colorado Springs: the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado College and The University of Colorado - Colorado Springs (UCCS).
