Mount Saint Joseph Residence & Rehabilitation (MSJ) has an excellent opportunity for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Internal Medicine physician, preferably fellowship trained in Geriatric or Palliative Medicine, to join an award winning long-term care facility located in Waterville, Maine.
The Medical Director at MSJ will have the option to become a full time employee with approximately 15 hours per month dedicated to the Medical Director role, or they can choose a part time role covering only the 15 hours each month in the Medical Director role. The selected Medical Director will be responsible for ensuring the highest practical level of medical care for the residents within Mount Saint Joseph. This opportunity is primarily administrative, providing medical and quality oversight, and organizing physician and mid-level services as well as articulating MSJ's mission to the community.
The Medical Director will be responsible for holding attending Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants accountable for delivery of care, including conducting practice and performance reviews of attending physicians and sharing attending Physician expectations with facility management and staff so they can identify and document situations where physicians are not performing according to standards. Among other duties, the Medical Director will implement appropriate policies and procedures, develop and implement evidence-based protocols, ensure pain policies and procedures are up to date and evidence-based, ensure residents receive adequate and appropriate pharmacy services, and will identify and secure services to assess and address sensory deficits.
Requirements for this opportunity include obtaining American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certification and/or American Medical Director Association (AMDA) certification within a timeframe mutually agreed upon with MSJ. The physician must also demonstrate completion of yearly continuing education programs, including those mandated by Trinity Health Senior Communities.

Mount Saint Joseph Residence & Rehabilitation (MSJ) is a 138-bed long-term care facility that includes 111 skilled nursing beds and 27 assisted living beds, including 34 behavioral health beds.
