Nemours is seeking a Chief Quality Officer, Delaware Valley to join our team in Wilmington, DE.

This individual will serve as the medical leader of quality improvement activities in the Delaware Valley and will work closely with the Operations Director of Patient Safety to ensure high quality reliable care. The Chief Quality Officer will build the quality/safety infrastructure, including appropriate dashboards, and develop and execute programs and initiatives to eliminate associate and/or patient harm associated with medical care in collaboration with the Operations Director of Patient Safety and the Nemours Corporate Office of Quality and Safety. The CQO will maintain situational awareness about safety risks and events throughout the Delaware Valley and co-lead the patient safety team in reviewing events and guiding root cause analysis. He/she will oversee workflow, process improvement and standardization improvement opportunities identified during safety event analysis and proactively identify operational and programmatic opportunities to advance the institution’s safety goals and collaborate in developing and executing associated improvement work. The CQO will establish relationships with physician, nursing and non-clinical leadership to foster a culture of safety, transparency and a sense of urgency with harm events and act as a role model, ambassador and advocate for safety in internal and external settings. He/she will serve as the Delaware Valley representative to local, regional and national patient safety organizations and will oversee data acquisition and input into national databases and review data and dashboards.

The CQO will have oversight for quality improvement activities and work closely with the continuous improvement department to improve, create and modify existing processes to drive improvements in customer satisfaction, clinical outcomes, efficiency and cost reduction. Must work collaboratively with department chairs and physician leaders, and provide guidance in crafting and in the execution of quality improvement projects and metrics in their respective departments. Will Chair the Performance Safety and Improvement Council (PSIC).

Will engage in clinical work at AIDHC in area of clinical specialty.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with a demonstrated track record of leadership and scholarly efforts in safety and quality improvements in a complex academic medical center
  • Active medical license in Delaware required, board certification in a (sub) specialty practiced in the institution is highly desired
  • Certification as a certified professional in patient safety (CPPS). Candidate will be required to gain certification within 2 years of employment
  • Formal training in safety and/or quality improvement
  • Academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor
  • Working knowledge of hospital practices and protocols as well as applicable regulations and guidelines
  • Track record of scholarly work in quality and safety desired
