Connecticut Children's is seeking a Chief of the Division of Rheumatology

Connecticut Children s is seeking a Chief of the Division of Rheumatology, who will lead the clinical practice, the academic enterprise, and strategic alliances of the Division. This is an opportunity for a clinically superb pediatric rheumatologist, who is a dynamic, sophisticated, and collaborative leader to join Connecticut Children s at a time of expansion, transformation, and innovation. The Hospital s leadership is dedicated to enhancing the considerable strengths of Connecticut Children s, advancing centers of excellence and building an integrated pediatric health system. The Chief will advance the strong multidisciplinary programs and collaboration. The Chief will develop a strategy for developing the rheumatology program, including faculty recruitment, the foundation for a robust clinical trials program, a clinical research core, and the development of a fellowship program. S/he may expand rheumatology access in an approach, similar to neonatology through its hospital affiliates in Hartford and Waterbury, its Specialty Care Centers in Farmington, Glastonbury, Hartford, and Shelton, as well as 12 other practice locations.

The strongest candidate will be an enthusiastic collaborator with a vision for meeting the needs of children and families across the State by increasing access to services. This could take numerous forms, including innovative programs, enhancing the strengths of a dedicated and highly qualified clinical staff, and building a robust clinical research and academic program. Connecticut Children s is forging ahead with plans for the development of an integrated pediatric health care system.

The faculty comment on the quality of professional life they enjoy, which differentiates the Connecticut Children s environment from that of many academic medical centers. They explain that the quality of professional life accounts for the tenure and optimism expressed by long time faculty and their recent successes in recruiting outstanding division chiefs.
