Imperial County “Our Community”
Imperial County is located at the southernmost eastern corner of California and borders Mexicali, Mexico, and Arizona. It is comprised of four cities: Calexico, El Centro, Imperial, and Brawley. The population of Imperial County is approximately 182,000 people with the county seat located in El Centro. The diverse population in Imperial County has strong cultural influences that make living in the area very rewarding. To our south is our sister city, Mexicali, Mexico. Mexicali is the capital of Baja California and can lead you onto the most amazing journeys in fine food, cultural activities, museums, and nightlife. Baja California is also the gateway to the beautiful Sea of Cortez where water recreation, sports fishing, and diving are some of the most excellent water activities you can ever encounter. Famous explorer and filmmaker Jacque Cousteau once referred to the Sea of Cortez as “the world’s aquarium.” Living in Imperial County makes it easy to get to other desirable destinations that are also in close proximity such as Phoenix, Arizona, Las Vegas, Nevada and Los Angeles, California.
