Bayfront Health St Petersburg’s - a state designated Level II trauma center and an integral part of the Community Health Systems network of hospitals which is one of the largest in the nation, is seeking to add a Trauma/Acute Care Surgeon to its team in St Petersburg, Florida. 

We are seeking a board certified general surgeon who holds additional certification in surgical critical care, trauma .   Ideally candidate would be BC in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. We are looking for clinical excellence in general surgery, traumatology and surgical critical care and someone who can transition quickly into a multidisciplinary team managing over 2,300 trauma encounters a year.

Bayfront Health St Petersburg is licensed 480 bed tertiary medical center supporting the citizens of the west coast of central Florida and receives referrals from throughout the state.  The hospital is also supported by multiple Air Medical Services assets. 

Candidates will join a team of 4 acute care surgeons and will share a 1:5 call schedule with additional back up responsibilities on a rotating basis.  The trauma service is supported by all surgical subspecialties and an active interventional radiology group.

Research opportunities are available but not required for fulfilling this position.  Active involvement in prehospital and interhospital educational events is required.  The position offers competitive benefits and a compensation package that is commensurate with training and experience.
